Milling machines are used for machining flat surfaces, contoured surfaces, complex and irregular areas, slotting, threading, gear cutting, production of helical flutes. Twist drills, spline shafts… to close tolerances. The general purpose milling machines are extremely versatile and are subdivided into several types. Vertical bed milling machines are rigid and powerful, hence they are used for heavy duty machining  of large work pieces.
